ACADEMIC BACKGROUND:

  • MS or PhD; Math, Physics or Electrical Engineering

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 3 years relevant industrial experience. Preferred 5 years experience in superconducting magnet and/or gradient coil design.
  • Ability to analyze and design complex products.
  • Working knowledge of Vector Fields software.
  • Flexibility in handling challenging, multi-tasking workload.
  • Ability to analyze and design complex products.
  • Experience in numerical analysis tools, finite element analysis skills and optimization methods.
  • Leadership, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Capability to generate innovative concepts.
  • Experience working closely with a manufacturing team.
  • Strong determination and will to win in a complicated environment.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt Certification would be a plus.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The Electromagnetic Engineer will join the magnet/gradient engineering team, the world’s largest plant for superconducting magnet production.
  • Completing EM design, analysis and optimization of sc and permanent magnets and gradients coils.
  • Performing magnetic field and force calculations for 2D and 3D geometries.
  • Running quench analysis and shimming studies.
  • Coordinating cross-functional design, analysis and testing.
  • Developing product, component test and purchase specifications.
  • Providing creative solutions to unstructured product and system design issues.
  • Participating in all phases of the product development life cycle, from concept and product specification generation, to manufacturing ramp up, optimizing functionality, manufacturability, reliability, serviceability and cost.
  • Supporting existing products with manufacturing, sourcing and service.
  • Leading product safety, productivity and quality enhancement projects.
  • Developing superconducting technology (coil winding, sc joints, etc).
  • Providing technical support for the installed base of over 10,000 units worldwide.
