ACADEMIC BACKGROUND:

  • MS (minimum), PhD (preferred) Physics, EE, ME, or related field

EXPERIENCE:

Required

  • 2+ years industrial experience (minimum). 5+ years experience with MRI systems (preferred).
  • Ability to analyze and design complex products:
    • Electromagnetic or mechanical analysis of interactions between MRI magnet, gradient coil, RF coil and environment.
    • Root cause analysis of image quality defects in MRI electronics, magnet, gradient or RF coil
  • Flexibility in handling challenging, multitasking workload.
  • Ability to work with cross-functional, multidisciplinary teams.

Desired

  • Experience with electromagnetic simulation tools such as Vector Fields, Ansoft, or ANSYS.
  • Vibration and acoustic modeling and testing capabilities for MRI systems and subcomponents.
  • Experience in numerical analysis tools and optimization methods.
  • Leadership, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Capability to generate innovative concepts.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt Certification.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsibilities are presented for both MRI system simulation and hands-on MRI system experience, and whilst abilities/experience in both areas is desirable it is not mandatory.
  • Design and analysis of MRI systems, including interactions between superconducting magnet, gradient coil, gradient driver, RF coil and electronic components used in MRI Systems.
  • Test support for final assembly and functional test of MRI system in factory setting.
  • Root cause analysis for MRI functional test failures and resultant quality/reliability efforts.
  • Follow-up support for MRI system installation productivity or failures at hospital site.
  • Preparation/presentation of design and analysis reports.
  • Develop product, component test and purchase specification.
  • Design leadership of productivity projects (both product cost and life cycle cost reduction).
  • Coordinate cross-functional design, analysis and testing.
  • Support manufacturing lean initiatives.
  • Provide creative solutions to unstructured product and system design issues from both factory and field.
  • Support compliance related activities (e.g. audit) and follow the Quality Management System.
  • Support product quality initiatives to meet plant wide business metrics.
  • Complete 100% environmental health and safety (EHS) training.
